District Governor John  Beckett

John Beckett was born in Bluefield, West Virginia and graduated from Bluefield High School where he was student body president and a charter member of the Bluefield High School Interact Club. He graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He also earned a Master of Science degree from Radford University, Radford, Virginia.

He has been a member of Rotary since 1975 holding various club positions in West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky. He served as President of the Rotary Club of Bluefield, West Virginia in 1995-96 and as the Rotary District 7550 chairman for Interact Clubs for four years. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Sustaining Member of the Rotary Foundation and District Governor for Rotary District 7550 for 2004-2005.

John currently serves as Senior Vice President and Trust Officer at First Century Bank, N.A., Bluefield, West Virginia, USA. He is a graduate of the Southern Trust School at Campbell University, Buies Creek North Carolina, the National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware. John is a licensed securities investment representative holding Series 7 and 63 licenses and has over twenty-eight years experience in banking and financial services.

His current and past community activities include holding offices and serving on the boards of United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement, Foster Parenting, Sales Executives Club, City of Bluefield Planning Commission, Estate Planning Council, numerous church committees and currently serves as a Trustee at Bluefield College. He is a member of Fincastle Country Club and Christ Episcopal Church.

John has been married for thirty-four years to his high school sweetheart, Becky, and they are the parents of three sons. Becky is a Spanish, English and ESL teacher and is also active in numerous community activities
