Lynn Whitteker

This Rotarian has made amazing progress in today’s business world. She has shattered the glass ceiling that was between her and her ultimate goal.  However, there is no need to look for shards in her office. She’s picked up the broken glass, settled in, and made the place her very own digs.

Rotarian Lynn had a long road to travel before she became the CEO of the Bluefield Regional Medical Center.  Along the way she earned her BS in business administration from Bluefield State College. Then she went after her MBA at Averett College in Danville, Virginia (now Averett University). She has tied everything together with her CPA designation.

Lynn’s background in the medical management field is outstanding. Her work experience includes both Princeton Community Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital in addition to time spent as CFO at Bluefield Regional. She has a vast knowledge of the financial operations of health care units, and now can put her experience to work as CEO of BRMC.

Lynn brings a wonderful quality to BRMC top management. She is a very caring and compassionate person. Though her main thrust needs to be the financial well being of BRMC, she believes patient care and satisfaction is her hospital’s reason for being. Let’s face it guys. The women of our world are the ones who are really interested in the health and well-being of those around them. As guys, we just don’t cut it.

Once again we find a member who is impressed with the networking made possible by being a Rotarian. However, Lynn said she would love to see our club more interested in Interact. She feels that more attention needs to be paid to the youngsters at Bluefield High. She is right! Note that we no longer have students coming to the club to meetings. Perhaps something can be done to help them resume their visits.. If we ignore our youth we’ll end up dead in the water.

Speaking of water, Lynn has a home at Claytor lake. She says it’s a place dear to her heart. She likes to go there to rest, swim, boat, and read! Sounds great, doesn’t it? This gal has a hobby, however, which is even more interesting. She says she loves to work on old cars. What a woman! The only female “grease monkey” CEO I know!

Lynn, we are glad you are a Rotarian. As you work to sort things out at BRMC don’t hesitate to call on club members you might feel can help you. Your hospital is also our hospital. It’s an institution that has great meaning in our community. We are fortunate it’s in your skilled and caring hands.
