Rex Hardy
Rex Hardy is a busy Rotarian. He is vice president of ancillary services for Bluefield Regional Medical Center,. His job involves him in all phases of the hospital’s patient care with the exception of nursing. He must deal with the radiology and cardiology departments along with housekeeping and food service unit. He handles a wide variety of functions that are beyond the understanding of most of us. Rex wants to have happy patients who have been well cared for while at BRMC. This young man is excited about his work, and does a fine job for his patients and the hospital.
Rex is a Virginian tried and true. As a youngster he lived in Richlands and graduated from Richlands High School. Later he enrolled in Averett University of Southern Virginia where he earned his MBA degree. He and his wife Linda now live at Pounding Mill, Virginia.
Rex is dedicated to his profession. He is constantly on the go tending to the many phases of his job at Regional. A volunteer at the main information desk said Rex passes by many times a day on his way to one department or another. He seems to embrace the management concept of “management by walking around.”
Rex talks about Rotary with feeling. He says he is delighted with opportunities Rotary presents to get better acquainted with local leaders. He wishes he could attend every meeting, but there are times when he just can’t make it. Join the crew, Rex!
This Rotarian put service above self into action. He is an assistant scoutmaster. He is excited about scouting and loves working with the youngsters. He is also proud of the fact that the Boy Scouts of America has lofty principles and lets the world know where they stand. Rex says he thinks more people should be willing to stand up and fight for the things they say they believe. Such an attitude could surely change the world.
Rex likes back packing, hiking, and cycling. When pressed about back packing experiences, he insisted nothing humorous or unusual had ever happened to him. One of these days we just might uncover something to hang on him. Wonder if he ever got lost, left his food at home, or went into the woods without a sleeping bag?
There is one thing for sure. We are all glad that Rex is a Bluefield Rotarian and an active and concerned member of our club.
